CLIENT: Epiphany School
Epiphany School, a private K-5 elementary in the Denny Blaine neighborhood, once shared space with the neighboring church. By expanding its site and building a new classroom building, the school has created its own identity and a campus that expresses its traditional and environmental values. The master plan knits new and old facilities around a new central open space that has become the primary gathering and play space for the school. The small site is heavily programmed with new and existing buildings, a parking garage, expanded play areas, outdoor learning areas and a school garden. The project "gives back" to the neighborhood by providing a generous streetscape with artwork, a pocket park, and access to the new pre-K playground. Teacher parking is handled compactly in an underground garage. The project achieved LEED Gold, including an innovation point for our sustainable soils and landscape maintenance plan.
