Steve Southerland, acting as Principle-In-Charge for the Miller-Hull Partnership, along with Johnson|Southerland (as MEJLA), developed master plan concepts for The Overlake School, a private grades 5-12 college prep school in Redmond, Washington. The master plan included the review and assessment of each existing building on campus and all education and administration departments. The plan included a listing of potential projects, additions and new facilities to be completed over a 10 year period including new Humanities and Technology and Language, classroom buildings, renovations to the Library and Science buildings, location of new tennis facilities, among other campus improvements. The project also included a study of a potential new Lower School planned for an adjacent property. Further studies have included replacement of the Sixth Grade classroom building as well as a new Middle School proposed to be located on a separate parcel.

Johnson+Southerland has completed work on several of these projects for The Overlake School including renovation of the Campus Center, Library, Science classroom, and Offices as well as new facilities for the Humanities, Technology and Language, and Fifth and Sixth Grade departments.
